FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: process is carried out by reaction of methanol with carbon monoxide and hydrogen (at least 9 mol %) in presence of catalytic system. Reactants are loaded into carbonylation reactor, wherein liquid reaction mixture is formed including 0.1-8 wt % methyl acetate, 0.1-9 wt % acetic anhydride, 3-20 wt % halogen-containing compound as cocatalyst, 1-2000 ppm VIII-group precious metal, 0.5-20 wt % iodide salt as catalyst stabilizer, and acetic acid in balancing amounts. EFFECT: enabled production of acetic acid under anhydrous conditions. 21 cl, 1 dwg, 3 tbl, 4 ex
