FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: 1-ethyl-3,3,6- trialkylcycloheptaoxalanes of formula 1: (1) and 1-ethyl- 3,3,5-trialkylcycloheptaoxalanes of formula 2: (2), in which R is n-butyl or n-hexyl, R₁ and R₂ are methyl radicals or R₁ is ethyl and R₂ ethyl, or else R₁ is butyl and R₂ ethyl, are prepared as follows: (i) reaction of alpha-olefins of general formula R-= with triethylaluminum in presence of zirconacen dichloride (Cp₂ZrCl₂) catalyst taken at molar ratio 10:(10-14):(0.3-0.7), respectively, conducted for 8 h in argon atmosphere; and (ii) addition of hexane to resulting reaction mixture, cooling to -10 C, addition of CuCl catalyst and ketone of formula , in which R₁ and R₂ are as above, at CuCl/ molar ratio (0.8-1.2):(10-14), and stirring of reaction mixture for 6- 10 h at room temperature and normal pressure. Novel compounds can find use in fine organic and organometallic synthesis and as cocatalysts in olefin and diene oligo- and polymerization processes.
