FIELD: power engineering. SUBSTANCE: method of generation of electric energy is effected by means of exhaust gas afterburning system using at least gas turbine, steam generator and system turbine. According to proposed method, crude oil or heavy oil is subjected to refining at reduced pressure, and electric energy is generated by using light fraction of crude oil or heavy oil as fuel for gas turbine and heavy fraction of crude oil or heavy oil is used as fuel for steam generator. EFFECT: increased coefficient of energy generation relative to consumption of fuel and more efficient use of high temperature heat energy. 2 cl, 6 dwg
