FIELD: microbiological industry, biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of selection of active strains as producers of citric acid. Active strains are selected in the process of inoculation of conidia of fungus culture Aspergillus niger subjected for mutagenesis and/or hybridization and/or recombination on agarized nutrient medium containing trans-aconitic acid in the amount (5.0-9.0) x 10-3 g/cm-3 of medium. Inoculations are grown for 4-6 days and on 1.5-2 day disposition of colonies diameter of that less by 2-3-fold are recorded. After termination of culturing fungus conidia are taken off and acid-producing activity of fungus is determined. EFFECT: simplified and accelerated selection. 1 tbl, 7 ex
