FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: 1,1,1,3,3-pentachlorobutane is prepared by reaction of carbon tetrachloride with 2-chloropropene in presence of telomerization catalyst, which consists of at least one cuprous or cupric compound. Reaction is carried out at 40-200 C, preferably in presence of solvent, in particular nitrile, amide, or trialkylposphine oxide.
