FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: aminonitrile compounds are subjected to cyclization hydrolysis into lactams by reaction of aminonitriles having general formula I: N≡C-R-NH2 (I), (I), where R represents substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, or arylaliphatic radical containing 3 to 12 carbon atoms, characterized by that catalyst is granulated one prepared by deposition and/or adsorption of at least one oxygen-containing compound, at least one element, selected from elements of groups 1-16 of Universal classification of elements (novel classification) as well as from rare-earth metals, onto support consisting of simple or mixed inorganic oxide or oxide mixture, at least one element selected from group including silicon, aluminum, titanium, zirconium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, tungsten, molybdenum, iron, and rare-earth elements, catalyst furthermore having at least one macroporous structure with specific volume of pores, corresponding to pores with diameter larger than 500 larger than or equal to 5 ml/100 g. EFFECT: increased selectivity of catalysis and increased purity of crude lactam. 12 cl, 3 tbl, 11 ex
