FIELD: medicine, in particular, prosthetic dentistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming tooth mold; manufacturing diagnostic model from gypsum; providing visual reference marks in the form of patterns for further mechanical preparing of supporting teeth with cutting tool; forming on diagnostic model tooth surface a closed curved line, which is projection of gum edge line; forming wax skirt along closed curved line; filling produced cavity with fast hardening plastic to form pattern; fixing pattern on related tooth surface in oral cavity; providing mechanical preparing of supporting tooth by arranging top part of cutting tool in the vicinity of gum edge and side surface at the level of pattern edge. Apparatus has base with pivotally joined table for jaw model, vertical column with horizontal bar and graphic marker extending perpendicular to base plane. Graphic marker is equipped with gum edge line fixing device, whose top part is on perpendicular extending from top part of graphic marker to base. Horizontal bar is equipped with grade calibration. Apparatus and method allow parallel as well as conical surfaces to be created on supporting teeth, with preparing method being suitable for any types of crowns of teeth, including formation of step.
