FIELD: medicine and other branches of industry, in particular, treatment of liquid systems including biological systems. SUBSTANCE: method involves directing liquid through additional chamber separated from electrode chambers by two semi-permeable porous ion-exchanging membranes; removing substances from liquid through one of membranes while introducing other substances through other of membranes. Electrodes are made in the form of circular conical spirals. Membranes are made from elastic materials. Additional chamber has variable volume and shape. Method and apparatus may be used for detoxication of blood and other biological systems.
