FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: novel polyethylene glycol ethers of tocopherol depicted by formula I: (I) with n=101-150 and meanings of symbols represented in table , which can be used in chemistry, medicine, cosmetology, and food industry owing to their vitamin activity (vitamin E) and water solubility, are prepared in industrial scale by subjecting tocopherol ester to reaction with ethylene oxide in presence of alkali at 120-150 C, ethylene oxide being supplied at such velocity as to maintain temperature of reaction mixture within simplified limits. Process is carried out in autoclave at pressure 1-3 atm and ethylene-to-tocopherol molar ratio between 25:1 and 150:1. Use of polyethylene glycol ethers of tocopherol allows preparing aqueous solutions of fat-soluble preparations, in particular vitamins. EFFECT: enabled industrial preparation of novel water-soluble tocopherol derivatives containing long polyethylene glycol chains, which results in lowered price and preserved vitamin activity. 6 cl, 1 tbl, 3 ex
