FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing butyl cellosolve used as a component in the production of solvents of resins, lacquers and paints, as an azeotropic additive in aviation and automotive fuel, as well as an antifreeze and substrate in fine organic synthesis. The method consists in the condensation of butanol-1 with ethylene oxide at a temperature between about 230°C to 240°C, a pressure between about 55 atm to 100 atm and a molar ratio of the components of ethylene oxide and butanol-1 in a mixture ranging from 1:2 to 1:3.
EFFECT: increase in the yield of butyl cellosolve without the use of homogeneous or heterogeneous catalysts in its synthesis.
