FIELD: processes for manual mechanical marking of articles by forming marking recesses. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forming picture by mechanically applying marks such as dashes and(or) recesses. Dashes are applied on marked surface simultaneously by milling or alternatively by milling and(or) drilling. Apparatus for performing the method includes housing and stamps. Shaft is mounted in housing. Stamps are in the form of one or several disc milling cutters successively and coaxially mounted on free body of shaft with possibility of changing distance between them, changing them and mounting milling cutters with different and(or) identical thickness values, diameters of discs in different order. Disc milling cutter being terminal relative to free end of shaft is spaced by distance 50 -150 mm from said end; end milling cutter or drill may be mounted on end portion of shaft. EFFECT: simple at using, comfortable in operation universal apparatus, enhanced efficiency, improved quality of picture applied by such method. 2 cl, 4 dwg
