SYSTEM OF ROAD WARNING OF TANK Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2202758 C2

FIELD: armored forces. SUBSTANCE: proposed system is related to training aids which teach driving, ensure road safety of combat vehicles moving at high speed in column and making it possible to acquire required skills in keeping safe distance between vehicles while marching. Modern tanks adopted for ground forces display high speed and maneuvering quality which make it feasible for them to execute marches of long depth at high speeds. Driving tanks in column at high speed is associated with great information and physical load on mechanics-drivers which in the long run leads to incorrect determination of distance to vehicle moving fore of his machine, to delayed braking and to running into tank moving in front of it. Approximately 12% of failures of tanks in process of march are related to failures caused by poor march preparation of mechanics-drivers, some of them being coupled to death of members of tank crew. This situation is connected first of all with absence of state-of-the-art training aids and corresponding methods which enable crew to be effectively taught to correct selection of safe distances in column. Objective of proposed technical decision lies in enhanced road safety and prevention of collision of combat vehicles in column and in battle formation by improved quality of teaching drivers to determination and keeping safe distance between tanks. This objective is achieved by addition of complex of equipment carrying transmitter and receiver to known tank system of road warning. Transmitter of complex generates continuous electromagnetic oscillations of ultrasonic frequency ( 20-50 kHz ). When tanks draw nearer voltage is induced across input of receiver which is fed to input of amplification stage. Employment on tanks of proposed technical decision will raise safety of driving of combat vehicles in columns and in battle formations, will enhance quality and intensify process of driver's teaching. EFFECT: considerably increased quality of tank marching at high speed and prevented running against tanks moving in front of them. 3 dwg
