METHOD OF PREPARATION OF COLD BITUMEN POLYMER MASTIC Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: application of coats on steel pipe lines; roofing jobs. SUBSTANCE: mastic is prepared in helical apparatus which is provided with shaft having drive perforated disk and hold-down mechanism; components of mastic charge are loaded in succession. Used as helical apparatus is AB-1 apparatus. Rotational speed of shaft is 10-20 s^-1. Hold-down mechanism has travel of motion part from 0.5-0.6 m. Mastic contains bitumen, filler, polymer additive + chlorosulfonated varnish and organic solvent; mastic is mixed for obtaining single-phase consistence. First, bitumen at size of particles up to 100 mm is loaded in AB-1 apparatus and then organic solvent. They are mixed for 2.5-3.0 minutes for obtaining single-phase consistence, after which filler is introduced. Mixture thus obtained is stirred for 1.0-1.5 min for obtaining required homogenization. Then, brine of natural bischofite of sulfide type MgCl₂×6H₂O at density of 1.2-1.5 t/cu.m is added. Mixture is cooled to 40 C and said polymer additive is introduced. Mixing is continued for 0.5-1.0 min for obtaining finished mastic. EFFECT: improved quality of mastic. 2 cl, 3 tbl
