FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: process involves multistage contact of raw material with catalyst under hydrogen-containing gas atmosphere at elevated temperature and pressure. In the first stage, raw material is brought into contact with low-activity catalyst containing nickel, cobalt, and molybdenum oxides in the form of Raschig rings, and, in the second stage, with high-activity trefoil-shaped alumina-cobalt-molybdenum catalyst. EFFECT: improved quality of product, reduced pressure gradient in reactor, and prolonged overhaul life of reactor. 2 cl, 1 tbl, 4 ex
