FIELD: pisciculture. SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with artificial reproduction in sturgeon fishes. Small amount of blood (1-2 cu. cm) is taken in sturgeon females to determine concentration of total protein refractometrically. Blood serum should be mixed with calcium chloride, heated to detect light-permeability coefficient of the mixture obtained colorimetrically. Ratio of light-permeability coefficient to total protein is calculated to obtain mathematical dependence between obtained values and fertilization percentage. This helps to determine the level of functional state in sturgeon females. The present innovation enables to increase efficiency of artificial reproduction in sturgeon fishes due to selection of females of high impregnation value of roe.
