FIELD: polymerization processes. SUBSTANCE: in-solution preparation of high-molecular ethylene copolymers involves contact of olefin monomers with catalytic system at polymerization temperature between 80 and 250 C and pressure up to 103500 kPa, said catalytic system containing non-bridged 4-group metal compound including monocyclopentadienyl ligand, phosphinimine ligand, and at least one mononegative activating ligand. Process can be realized at reaction temperature 80 to 250 C to give polymer with high number-average molecular weight at good polymerization rate. Invention further provides complex showing reactivity at temperatures above 80 C to produce ethylene polymer, in particular 4-group metal complex having general formula: .
