FIELD: development and perfection of specimens of weapon, in particular, experimental ballistics at determination of dispersion of bullets and shells in trajectory. SUBSTANCE: used as the measurement base is the length of the bullet or shell, and the muzzle velocity is determined by measurement of the time of passage of the measurement base through a photoelectric target. The device has photoforming units of measurement of the time of flight by the shell of the measurement base. The units are positioned at the end of the armament barrel in two bodies installed on plates bolted to the barrel. The units are poured in by vibration-shock-proof compound and positioned in the upper and lower bodies, they can measure the time of flight of the measurement base by formation with the aid of a phototransducer unit of the first signal at an interruption of the light beam by the front edge of the shell, and of the second signal when the shell leaves the barrel due to opening of the light beam to the phototransducer.
