FIELD: chemical industry, applicable for manufacture of optical articles, for example, ophthalmic contact lenses by means of moulding. SUBSTANCE: method includes the following stages. First a melt of optical polymeric material is produced in a melting device and fed from the device in the form of non-compressed thread. The lower matrix is provided by means of a device for feeding the lower matrices, the lower matrix represents a part of a set of matrices containing the lower and upper matrices. Then, the preset dose of melt is produced and fed in the form of non-compressed thread to the upper surface of the lower matrix. The upper matrix is provided by means of a device for feeding the upper matrices, and the upper matrix is positioned on the upper part of the lower matrix containing a dose of non-compressed melt. It is moulded and an optical article is formed. Then, the optical article is removed from the set of matrices. The above stages are repeated until the required quantity of optical articles is manufactured. Besides, a device realizing the above method for manufacture of optical articles is offered.
