FIELD: methods for manufacturing of optical articles such as lenses for spectacles or blanks for compact-disks from melt. SUBSTANCE: the polymer melt is fed in the form of a jet freely running out of the melting unit into one of the matrices of several turning or linearly moving dies. Each die consists of a matrix and a punch. The freely running out melt jet is cylinder-shaped. The dies are installed in the holders of a rotating chuck plate or conveyer system. The lenses are formed by pressing the dies with the aid of pressing units linked with each supporting device of the chuck. Then the lenses are separated from the dies, and the dies return to the stages of die loading and melt delivery. The process continues until the desired quantity of articles is manufactured. EFFECT: enhanced quality of optical articles without visible defects. 30 cl, 5 dwg
