FIELD: sealing materials. SUBSTANCE: alkali metal alkylsiliconate is prepared via alkali hydrolysis of organosilicon compound, more particularly by reaction of alkylsilylsesquioxanes with aqueous solution of alkali at 80-105 C for 1 to 4 h while adding, to reaction mixture, alkylene glycols in amounts 2 to 10% of the weight of reaction mixture, followed by drying of product by heating to temperature from 60 to 180 C at residual pressure from 100 Pa to atmospheric pressure. Product contains 70 to 100 wt.% of alkali metal alkylsiliconate. EFFECT: increased yield of product (98-100%) possessing elevated waterproofing ability compared to existing analogs. 1 tbl
