FIELD: electrical engineering; insulators for high-voltage power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: in order to reduce damage to insulator in baking, to shorten drying and baking time, to avoid S-shaped cracks, and to cut down number of rejected items upon drying proposed process involves extrusion of blank from raw insulating mass with through bore formed in center of blank followed by turning the latter, its drying, glazing, and baking; after drying shackle made of same material as blank and pre-baked to temperature affording initial strength of shackle at the same time avoiding its sintering to final density of part is inserted in through bore of blank, shackle length being sufficient to ensure its resistance to voltage of 110 kV in order to avoid electrical breakdown and formation of monolithic body after baking. EFFECT: enhanced quality of insulator. 1 cl, 3 dwg
