FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed for steplessly changing gear ratio between engine and propulsion units of vehicles, such as automobiles, tractors, diesel locomotives of any power rating and provision of starting from halt under load, engine braking and reversing. Proposed variable-speed drive is furnished with driving and with at least one driven shafts, gearbox with input and output shafts connecting driving shaft with gearbox input shaft and controlled by clutch and high torque variable speed drive containing input shaft connected with driving shaft, ratio change handle and three-shaft differential. Shaft of differential carrier, being output member of variable speed drive, is mechanically coupled with driven shaft and with output shaft of gearbox. Differential gears mechanically coupled with input shaft of variable-speed drive by means of overrunning clutches are fitted on two other shafts.
