FIELD: water treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention, which can be applied in treatment of various-origin polluted waste waters and water treating for industrial necessities and drinking water supply, consists in performing cyclically repeated electrocoagulation. In each cycle, a portion of polluted water is passed into electrocoagulator while pressure within a range of 0.01 to 0.1 MPa is created over the water surface. The pressure, as electrocoagulation advances, is increased to values from 0.1 to 2.5 MPa. Treated water is then withdrawn and pressure is lowered to its initial value. These cycles are repeated with frequency 0.01 to 0.0001 Hz. EFFECT: maintained specified coagulation flow level, stabilized process, and increased degree of purification for wide variety of pollutants. 4 cl, 3 tbl
