FIELD: electroplating with use of ruthenium electrolytes and removal of excessive amount of sulfate ions formed in course of operation and effecting unfavorably serviceability of electrolyte and quality of coating. SUBSTANCE: method consists in regeneration of ruthenium electrolytes containing ammonium salt of ruthenium binuclear nitride-aquachloride complex, sulfamate ions and sulfate ions by removal of excessive sulfates by ion exchange method on cationite from resin with its preliminary conversion into barium form with formation of barium sulfate sediment easily removable from resin. EFFECT: higher rate of ruthenium precipitation, coating quality, reduced cracking due to removal of excessive sulfates. 1 tbl
