FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: diesel fractions undergo hydrofining at elevated temperature and pressure as high as 5.0 MPa in presence of catalysts preliminarily activated in hydrogen-containing gas atmosphere by elementary sulfur or low-sulfur diesel fuel at 350-400 C. Stable hydrogenate is then subjected to ozonation with ozone-air mixture consumed at velocity 3-10 g/kg at 5-20 C and atmospheric pressure followed by recovering diesel fuel by rectification, alkalization, and washing with water. EFFECT: improved quality of fuel, in particular its environmental acceptability. 3 tbl
