FIELD: analytical methods. SUBSTANCE: method is designed for detecting nitromethane in air of working zones of enterprises of pharmaceutical and perfume industries. Detector is composed of 4 sensors whose electrodes are modified by squalane, apiezone L, triethanolamine, and 1,2,3-tris(beta-cyanethoxy)propane applied in the form of films with mass 5-15 mcg. Sensor responses are recorded by turns. Quantitative assay is accomplished using artificial direct-propagation neuron network with teaching algorithm "reverse error propagation".
