FIELD: peat mining mainly of agricultural application in regions of stable freezing of peat. SUBSTANCE: essence of invention consists in that after daily average of air temperature passes over OC, ground water level is lifted to middle of cryogenic texture layer and after its thawing, ground water level is lowered to design value and peat deposit is worked by its loosening to depth of at least 3 cm. Windrowing is carried out simultaneously with loosening, and each next windrow is formed with displacement for width of base of previous windrow. Then, peat is gathered and formed in piles.
