FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design and method of manufacture of steering mechanism with hourglass worm. Triple-support steering mechanism consists of case 1 and bearing-mounted shaft 2 of hourglass worm 8 and pitman arm 3 on shaft 4 with roller 10. two bearings are installed in neck of case 1, and third one is installed in cover 5 with adjusting screw 6, boss 7 and stiffening ribs 8. To manufacture steering mechanism, case bearing and intermediate bearing are installed in neck of case, and cover 5 is made with groove for outer race of bearing in boss 7. For inner race of said bearing groove is made on head of shaft 4 of pitman arm with slot on end face of head of shaft 4. EFFECT: improved reliability of steering mechanism without increasing overall dimensions at maximum utilization of standard parts of steering mechanism. 3 cl, 3 dwg
