FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of glycol ethers useful as active solvents for resins in manufacture of materials for coating surfaces, as solvents in brake fluid production, as anti-icers, in different petroleum-based fuels, as antifreezes, etc. Method involves reaction of olefin oxide with alcohol in presence of catalyst containing crystalline metal silicate, which has basic reaction and represents coarse pore-type material with 12-membered annular porous systems, whose pore size is about 7-8.5 and general composition 9±0,2A2O:M2O3:xSiO2:yH2O, where A denotes one or several alkali metal cations or their combination with hydrogen atom, x is equal to at least 2, and y/x varies between 0 and 25.
