FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a carbonylation method for producing methyl acetate which, upon start-up, involves reacting dimethyl ether with carbon monoxide under carbonylation reaction conditions at temperature equal to 200 to 350 °C, in the presence of a catalyst which contains a zeolite having a micropore volume equal to 0.00–0.01 ml/g, and said zeolite contains at least one channel which is formed by 8-member ring.
EFFECT: technical result is the development of a carbonylation method for producing methyl acetate, in which by eliminating an induction period by using a certain zeolite catalyst or shorter duration of induction period, which leads to improved selectivity of acetylated products when starting the carbonylation method.
