METHOD FOR MAKING WHEEL NUT Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly manufacture of nuts for mounting wheels, mainly of passenger cars. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of cutting off measured-length blank with diameter equal to 1.08 - 1.12 of dimension of ready nut for wrench; upsetting it and simultaneously making preliminary recesses on ends of nut for forming chamfers and outer radius on one end; then pressing out preliminary opening for thread by depth equal to 0.8 - 0.9 of height of ready nut from its end until outer cone working surface, in the same position as that of preliminarily made cone surface. Small diameter of preliminarily formed cone surface consists 0.95 - 0.98 of small diameter of ready nut. Polyhedron is preliminarily formed by reducing at keeping opening pressed out beforehand and making flange. Then polyhedron is formed at finally shaping outer and inner chamfers on its end, cone outer working surface is finished and recess for punching opening is made at side of said end. Simultaneously chamfer is formed in zone of transition of polyhedron to flange. Opening is punched at basing according to cone. EFFECT: enhanced quality of made parts, improved strength of tool. 1 dwg
