FIELD: device for serving newspapers; vending machines for newspapers and similar sheet products. SUBSTANCE: device has hoisting mechanism for displacing sheet products, thrust disk mounted for rotating about axis perpendicular to top surface of ream made of material characterized by low paper friction coefficient, with top sheet product abutting against this disk; frictional serving mechanism with gripping member made of material characterized by high paper friction coefficient which acts upon top surface of ream by frictional force when serving sheet product and does not interfere with next removal of sheet product from outlet slit. In addition device has sheet-product payment banknote receiver-analyzer, interlocking mechanism turned on by operating mechanism at and of sheet-product serving cycle and turned on by receiver-analyzer in case sum of banknotes dropped in its slit coincides with sheet product cost. Device has over-length flexible cable for connecting device components with operating mechanism, set of pulleys controlling flexible cable direction, spring-loaded pulley used to take up slack due to cable over-length. Device also has slider with boss joined through flexible cable to reciprocating operating mechanism on one end and through spring-loaded b pulley, to serving mechanism which is joined to thrust disk on other end. Cable is supported by spring-loaded pulley between slider and serving mechanism. Device also has braking block made of material; characterized by high paper friction coefficient joined with rack. The latter is free to move up together with braking block with aid of pawl coupled to the latter and provided with head which resides above slider boss in initial position when boss engages pawl head. In this case pawl is free to move over path gradually coming off the boss movement path. This first enables slider engaging pawl head and lifting pawl together with rack, fork, and braking block above ream immediately as serving mechanism starts moving from initial position and makes it possible for gripping member to easily set in motion upper sheet product and its exit from under braking block; then it allows for pawl head to disengage slide boss and for braking block to go down together with pawl, rack, and fork to hold down by their own weight part of sheet product next to upper one that has been opened up under it until upper one approaches output slit. The latter is spaced from ream at distance sufficient to allow for sheet product not to leave it until braking block comes down without interfering with further movement of upper sheet product up to stop of operating mechanism upon exit of sheet product from output slit and when serving mechanism is withdrawn backward and slider pulled down to ensure engagement of interlocking mechanism by slider and then engagement of slider boss by pawl head. Braking block is free to hold sheet product in motionless position when acted upon by serving mechanism moving toward output slit.
