FIELD: power engineering; reactive power correction in ac supply mains. SUBSTANCE: system has two devices 1 and 2 using similar circuit arrangement and incorporating same functional components. Device 1 has diode-bridge converter 3 connected to ac mains phases A, B, C through capacitor banks 4, 5, 6 and reactors 7, 8, 9. Bridge-type converter is shorted out on dc side by means of thyristor 10, by circuit of series-connected resistor 11 and thyristor 12, and by circuit of capacitor 13 and thyristor 14. Resistor 11 functions to limit charge current of capacitors 4, 5, 6. Capacitor 13 is used for forced turn-off of thyristor 14. Reactors 7, 8, 9 are installed to eliminate resonance tuning to supply mains. Device 2 has similar components. Connected between phase leads A1, B1, C1 of diode-bridge converter 3 and same leads A2, B2, C2 of converter 15 of device 2 is circuit set up of capacitors 16-18 and controlled diodes 19-24 which are connected in parallel opposition. Like-polarity ac input terminals of converters are connected through respective reactors and capacitors of capacitor banks to unlike phases of supply mains. For instance, lead A1 of converter 3 is coupled through capacitor bank 6 with supply mains phase C and lead A2 of converter 15 of device 2 , with supply mains phase A through capacitor bank 25 and reactor 26.
