METHOD FOR COMBINED TURNING AND ABRASIVE-DIAMOND WORKING Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: metal working, turning and boring blanks of viscous hard-to-form materials and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of rotating blank and simultaneously moving in lengthwise direction rotary combined cutter having holder and cutting member with cutting edge along the whole circumference, upper and lower bases and lateral face in the form of cylindrical surface and abrasive-diamond part arranged on rear surface of cutting member along generatrix of above mentioned cylindrical surface. Cutting member is mounted in holder on axle with possibility of rotation. It is possible to use cutting member designed for mounting with large negative kinematic angle γ equal to 50 - 60 degrees. In such case it is possible to use rotary combined cutter provided with two cone roller bearing assemblies designed for mounting on axle in unit assembled with cutting member. The last may be in the form of outer ring having in opening specially profiled surface in the form of two truncated straight cones mutually joined by their small bases.
