FIELD: electrical engineering; electric drives of mine winders. SUBSTANCE: electric drive that may be used in mine winders as electric brake duplicating mechanical safety brake in case of failure of the latter ensures emergency stop of elevating buckets by means of its electrodynamic braking system. In case of emergency stop of winder induction motor is disconnected from supply mains and changed over to dynamic braking mode. Dynamic braking mode of induction motor is ensured all the time even in absence of external dc power supply by means of electrochemical capacitors inserted in rectified-current circuit of rotor. With safety brake operating normally electric drive enables reduction of force on brake blocks of drum thereby increasing their service life, maintenance intervals, and, hence, capacity of hoisting installation as a whole.
