FIELD: forensic medicine. SUBSTANCE: one should measure tissue pressure in area of strangulation sulcus and in nonaffected skin area (above and/or below strangulation sulcus) and at value of tissue pressure being 45 mm mercury column and more one should conclude on life- time character of such a sulcus, and at value of tissue pressure being below 45 mm mercury column and relative (against that in nonaffected skin area) increase of tissue pressure in sulcus' area one should conclude on posthumous character of strangulation sulcus. At detecting life-time character of strangulation sulcus in area of neck it is necessary to additionally conclude on body position at the moment of death, moreover, at relative increase of tissue pressure in nonaffected skin area above sulcus against that below sulcus it is possible to conclude upon vertical body position in loop at the moment of death, and at no such relative increase - upon horizontal body position. EFFECT: higher accuracy of detection. 1 cl _
