FIELD: lifts. SUBSTANCE: the member in tension has a diameter quotient exceeding unity determined as a ratio of the width of the member in tension to its thickness. In the specific modification the member in tension contains a group of separate load-bearing ropes enclosed inside the common layer of coating. The layer of coating separates individual ropes and determines the surface of coupling to the drive pulley. The traction drive is a drive, in which the rope according to this invention is used as a rope. EFFECT: reduced maximum pressure of the rope and enhanced its flexibility as compared with ordinary ropes of lifts; as a result, pulleys of a smaller size may be used together with such members in tension. 53 cl, 12 dwg
