FIELD: flying shears for cutting-off the front and back crops of hot-rolled steel rods fed from continuous high-speed mill. SUBSTANCE: shears consist of driving and driven knives rotating in opposite direction with same angular velocities. Knives are engageable with each other with overlapping in radial direction in cutting zone. Shears may be provided with two sets of knives for cropping article front and back ends, respectively. Articles of permissible intermediate length may be directed to separate guide channels of immovable through located along process flow behind cutting zone. Chopping shears separate cut ends into shorter scrap lengths. EFFECT: reliable operation of shears at any speed of mill feed including highest delivery speeds of modern wire mills. 14 cl, 15 dwg
