FIELD: metal working, possibly treating cutting tool in magnetic field in order to improve its wear resistance. SUBSTANCE: installation includes housing in which apparatuses for magnetizing and demagnetizing are arranged. Magnetizing apparatus includes exciting windings placed on core of =-shaped magnetic circuit having detachable members for placing tool. Demagnetizing apparatus is in the form of electromagnet whose length is equal to 0.3 - 0.4 of its mean diameter. Electromagnet is placed along motion path of tool and its winding plane is oriented along plane of tool motion. Length values of exciting windings are equal to 6 - 7 mean diameters and they are wound in such a way that cross section of winding turns arranged outside and consisting 30 - 50% of the whole turn number is less than cross section of inner turns by 10 - 15%. Members for placing tool may have working surface corresponding to tool configuration. In the result one installation provides the whole technological cycle of magnetic treatment process. It allows to use such installation for long-period continuous working in condition of batch production at using automatization and mechanization means.
