FIELD: inorganic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silica compositions, in part, to opaque silica compositions. Opaque quartz (20) comprises quartz (12) and at least one solid material for the second phase (25). Solid material of the second phase (25) is dispersed uniformly in quartz. Cut surface formed by all quartz surface (20) has no surface defects as solid material of the second phase (25) forms opaque quartz (20) that has no porosity. Solid material of the second phase involves fibrous hafnium oxide, rare-earth metal oxide, magnesium oxide, titanium oxide, calcium oxide, aluminum oxide and calcium fluoride. At least one solid material of the second phase comprises either one or multiple types of solid inclusions. At least one inclusion taken among rare-earth metal oxides and hafnium oxide and combination of these oxides are used as solid inclusions of the second phase. Invention provides preparing the opaque quartz composition without surface defects and porosity. EFFECT: improved quality and valuable properties of composition. 12 cl, 2 dwg
