FIELD: wood-pulp and paper industry, manufacture of printing paper. SUBSTANCE: method establishing flaking of paper includes mechanical working of paper specimen with rubber roller under pressure, removal of specks of dust and fibers remained on surface of rubber roller and calculation of sought-for value of flaking of paper. Mechanical working of paper specimen with rubber roller is carried out in water in the course of 2-5 s in forward and backward directions. Remaining specks of dust and fibers are removed from rubber roller by washing with used water with production of fibrous suspension, total amount of specks of dust and fibers in it is established as well as their arithmetic mean length and linear mass. Sought-for value is computed by formula m = K•Lam•n•μ where m is total mass of removed specks of dust and fibers, mg/sq m and g/ha; K is scaling factor ( with m expressed in mg/sq m K= 100, with m expressed in g/ha K=1000 ); Lam is arithmetic mean length of fibers and specks of dust, m; n is total amount of fibers and specks of dust; μ is linear mass of fibers and specks of dust. EFFECT: increased accuracy in establishment of flaking of paper with simultaneous reduction of time of analysis. 1 tbl
