FIELD: mechanical engineering; power plants with internal combustion piston engines. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method air is subjected to two-step compression outside engine cylinder using energy exchanger, with cooling of air after compression at first step and is accumulated ion first receiver for subsequent delivery into working cylinder. Compressed air from first receiver and fuel are delivered into working cylinder, mixture is combusted inside cylinder with piston and expanded gas work is conveyed to power takeoff shaft, using part of gas energy for compression of air. Then gases are expanded in energy exchanger between gases and fresh air and air in energy exchanger is compressed to parameters of beginning of fuel burning, and accumulation of compressed air in first receiver is carried out with preservation of obtained parameters. Expansion of hot gases in engine cylinder is used only to get useful work at their expansion to valve without 0.09 and 0.6 of initial volume of air. Expansion of gases in energy exchanger is used both for compression of fresh air and for getting additional useful work. For this purpose pistons of engine and energy exchanger are connected by mechanical or hydraulic coupling, and useful work of power plant is obtained both when engine piston moves from top dead center into bottom dead center and at reverse stroke. Under partial load conditions fuel delivery into engine cylinder is stopped, and useful work is obtained owing to expansion of compressed air by additionally heating compressed air from external heat source in first or second or other receivers which are connected in turn to engine cylinder. EFFECT: increased efficiency of power plant, simplified design of plant.
