SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel pyridinium salts of the general formula (I) or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts wherein R₁ represents -R₄-R₅ or -N(R₇)N(R₇)R₉; R₄ is taken among group: wherein R₆ is alkyl; R₅ is taken among group: alkyl, aryl including heteroaryl, -COR₇, -SO₂R₇, -COR₁₀, wherein R₇ is hydrogen atom, alkyl or aryl including heteroaryl; R₂ is fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine atom, alkyl, aryl including heteroaryl, formyl, acyl, C(O)NR₇R₁₀ or C(O)OR₇,; m = 0, 1 or 2; R₃ is taken among group including R₇, OR₇, N(R₇)(R₁₀), CH(R₇)C(O)R₈; R₈ represents R₇, OR₇ and NR₇R₁₀; R₉ is hydrogen atom, alkyl, aryl including heteroaryl, ; R₁₀ is hydrogen atom or aryl including heteroaryl and in each case it differs optionally from R₇; X represents halogen ion under condition that: 1) if two alkyl groups are at a single carbon or nitrogen atom then they optionally bound in common with formation of cyclic structure; and 2) nitrogen atom of heteroaryl ring R₁₀ if it presents is optionally quaternized with such compound as X-CH₂C(O)-R₃. Compounds of the formula (I) show destructive AGE-activity and can be used for treatment of diabetic, nephrological, neurological diseases, atherosclerosis, eye retina injuries and dermatological diseases.
