FIELD: mechanical engineering; rotor mechanisms using electromagnetic supports. SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of rotor deviation from desired position for each control channel and generation of electromagnet control signals as function of measured deviation. In case of failure of rotor position transducers or regulators signal affording load release on safeguard bearings under emergency conditions is applied to inputs of force transducers of each control channel compensating for rotor mass. After rotor is fully stopped electromagnetic hanger force transducers are disconnected. Device for controlling electromagnetic hanger of rotor in each control channel has rotor position transducer, deviation regulators unit, switch, force transducer, two electromagnets, emergency condition diagnosing unit, switch control unit, and emergency disconnection parameter setting unit. EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability in emergency situations, reduced requirements to safeguard bearings of hanger. 2 cl, 4 dwg
