Method involves electrolysis of aqueous solutions of alkaline metal or ammonium acetate in anode compartment of diaphragm electolyzer in the presence of addition of alkaline metal or ammonium thiocyanate taken in the concentration 0.5-2.0 g/l at current density 0.05-1.0 A/cm2 followed by concentrating formed acid aqueous solution by evaporation of vacuum distillation off.
