FIELD: dropping of high-field pulse windings in magnets, construction of heavy-loaded power transmission lines. SUBSTANCE: process of manufacture of high-strength electric conductor includes formation of composite wire rod by way of placement of copper axial cylindrical block into stainless steel sheath and deformation of composite wire rod with intermediate thermal treatment to obtain final size of wire. Process is characterized by deposition of copper layers on outer sheath. Thickness of copper coat is chosen from relationship 0,01≤Δcopst≤0,1 where Δcop and Δst are thicknesses of copper and steel sheaths correspondingly. EFFECT: improved quality of surface and increased strength of steel sheath, stabilization of initial ratio of elements of composite wire. 4 cl, 2 dwg
