FIELD: mining industry; materials handling equipment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chain multibucket excavator with chain-guided buckets designed for use at opencast mining. Chain of excavator is set into operation by gearless drives. Chain multibucket excavator contains contactless speed meter for measuring chain speed, and regulator to control gearless drive. Excavator is furnished with differentiator for determining derivative of speed value measured by speed meter and regulator to control drive so that speed derivative measured by speed meter corresponds to preset value. According to proposed method of control of gearless drive containing buckets of multibucket excavator with gearless drive directed by chains, speed of chain in measured by noncontact speed meter, and regulator coupled with speed meter, provides control of drive. According to proposed method, derivative of chain speed is found and regulated to preset value. EFFECT: improved reliability and increased capacity of excavator. 6 cl, 1 dwg
