PROCEDURE MEASURING COMPLETE VECTOR OF MAGNETIC FIELD AND FACILITY FOR ITS REALIZATION Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2218577 C2

FIELD: development of geophysical equipment and magnetometers measuring permanent magnetic field both by modulus and direction. SUBSTANCE: salient feature of invention lies in bringing of system of three mutually orthogonal rigidly fixed ferrosondes placed at angle of 54.735 degrees with axis of instrument case into magnetic field. Measurements are conducted while instrument is oriented in space with due account of reference field directed along axis of instrument case. Modulus of complete vector of measured magnetic field is computed as root from sum of squares of signals of all three mutually orthogonal ferrosondes. Plane common for vector of measured magnetic field and field formed by reference pulse generator is found by equality of changes of resultant informative signal of three ferrosondes with equal deviations of axis of instrument case relative to given plane. True direction of vector of measured magnetic field is established by equality of signals of all three ferrosondes as each of them occupies equivalent angular position with regard to complete vector of measured magnetic field and this angular position corresponds to optimal sensitivity of ferrosondes.
