METHOD FOR PURIFICATION OF PREPARATION RADIONUCLIDE NICKEL-63 Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

Abstract RU 2219133 C1

FIELD: radiochemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method for purification of the preparation radionuclide nickel-63 involves preparing solution of its nitrate containing ammonia in the concentration 4 mole/l, not less. Ferric (III) nitrate is added to solution in the amount corresponding to the mass ratio Fe : Ni = 0.01-0.03 and precipitate is separated from solution. 63Ni is precipitated in the presence of hydrogen peroxide in the concentration 0.01-0.1 mole/l as hexamine-nickel perchlorate. For this purpose sodium or ammonium perchlorate is added in the ratio of molar concentrations of perchlorate ions and nickel in the range 10-20. Mother precipitate is separated from solution and precipitate is washed out with solution containing ammonia in the concentration 4 mole/l, not less, and perchlorate ions - 0.5-2 mole/l, hydrogen peroxide 0.01-0.1 mole/l followed by separation of washing out solution. Precipitate is dissolved in nitric acid in the concentration 0.5-2 mole/l in the molar ratio amounts of acid and nickel = 8-10. 63Ni is sorbed from prepared solution on strong cation-exchange resin Dowex-50. Sorbent is rinsed with water and hydrochloric acid solution in the concentration 0.3-0.5 mole/l and 63Ni is desorbed with hydrochloric acid in the concentration 4-5 mole/l. Method provides the purification of 63Ni from presenting in material, apart from cobalt radionuclides, radioactive impurities of cesium, barium, europium, ruthenium, iodine, silver, niobium, chrome and manganese. EFFECT: improved purification method. 5 tbl
