FIELD: metallurgy; melting iron in gas cupolas. SUBSTANCE: bed refractory charge is made in form of lumps of carbon-containing material at fraction of 100-300 mm with carbon graphite material consisting of 35-40% of thermoanthracite and 60-65% of graphite formed during mechanical treatment of blanks of graphitized products molded and sintered at temperature of 1300-1350 C. EFFECT: reduction of cost of bed charge and cast iron by 20-25%.
